Apa yang Sebenarnya Allah Katakan tentang Rahbaniyyah? | QS 57:27 - Illa Ibtighaa-a Ridhwaani Allaahi

A. PENGANTAR
Dalam banyak tulisan di blog ini kita bisa menemukan acapkali apa yang dipahami umat Islam ketika membaca ayat-ayat Quran, tidak setepat itu. Kesalahpahaman sejauh ini disebabkan kurangnya kemauan umat dalam menggali lebih dalam tentang makna teks, minimal dari sisi tafsir dan asbabun nuzul. Hal itu pula yang bisa kita temukan dalam catatan ini.

B. DALIL QURAN
QS 57:27 (Al-Hadiid - Besi, Urutan Turun Quran: 94, Madaniyah)
tsumma qaffaynaa ‘alaa aatsaarihim birusulinaa waqaffaynaa bi’iisaa ibni maryama waaataynaahu al-injiila waja’alnaa fii quluubi alladziina ittaba’uuhu ra/fatan warahmatan
Kemudian Kami iringi di belakang mereka dengan rasul-rasul Kami dan Kami iringi (pula) dengan Isa putra Maryam; dan Kami berikan kepadanya Injil dan Kami jadikan dalam hati orang-orang yang mengikutinya rasa santun dan kasih sayang.

Dan mereka mengada-adakan rahbaniyyah
maa katabnaahaa ‘alayhim ILLAA IBTIGHAA-A RIDHWAANI ALLAAHI
padahal kami tidak mewajibkannya kepada mereka tetapi (mereka sendirilah yang mengada-adakannya) untuk mencari keridhaan Allah,
famaa ra’awhaa haqqa ri’aayatihaa
lalu mereka tidak memeliharanya dengan pemeliharaan yang semestinya.
faaataynaa alladziina aamanuu minhum ajrahum wakatsiirun minhum faasiquuna
Maka Kami berikan kepada orang-orang yang beriman di antara mereka pahalanya dan banyak di antara mereka orang-orang fasik.

C. TAFSIR (1)
Al-Jalalayn
Then We sent to follow in their footsteps Our messengers, and We sent to follow, Jesus son of Mary, and We gave him the Gospel, and We placed in the hearts of those who followed him kindness and mercy. But [as for] monasticism, namely, abstention from women and seclusion in monasteries, they invented it, [an innovation] on their part — We had not prescribed it for them, We did not enjoin them to it; but they took it on — only seeking God’s beatitude. Yet they did not observe it with due observance, for many of them abandoned it and rejected the religion of Jesus and embraced the religion of their [then] king. However, many of them did remain upon the religion of Jesus and they believed in our Prophet [when he came]. So We gave those of them who believed, in him, their reward; but many of them are immoral.

Al-Tustari
"But as for monasticism, they invented it"He said:Monasticism (rahbāniyya) is derived from the word rahba which means fear. It refers to adherenceto [a state of] fear without any earnest desire (ṭamaʿ). We had not prescribed it for them, that is, We did not demand that they worship Us in that way. His words, Mighty and Majestic is He:

(But the monasticism which they invented for themselves,) refers to the monasticism that the Christian nation invented, (We did not prescribe for them) `We -- Allah -- did not ordain it for them, but they chose it on their own.'
There are TWO OPINIONS about the meaning of, (only to please Allah therewith,) The first is that they wanted to please Allah by inventing monasticism. Sa`id bin Jubayr and Qatadah said this. The second meaning is: "We did not ordain them to practice that but, rather, We ordained them only to seek what pleases Allah.'' Allah's statement, (but that they did not observe it with the right observance.) meaning, they did not abide by what they ordered themselves to do. This Ayah criticizes them in two ways: first, they invented in things in their religion, things which Allah did not legislate for them. The second is that they did not fulfill the requirements of what they themselves invented and which they claimed was a means of drawing near to Allah, the Exalted and Most Honored. ...
(But the monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them, but (they sought it) only to please Allah therewith, but that they did not observe it with the right observance.) ''' Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas bin Malik said that the Prophet said,
(Every Prophet has Rahbaniyyah (monasticism); Jihad in the cause of Allah, the Exalted and Most Honored, is the Rahbaniyyah of this Ummah.) Al-Hafiz Abu Ya`la collected this Hadith and in this narration, the Prophet said, (Every Ummah has Rahbaniyyah; Jihad in the cause of Allah is the Rahbaniyyah of this Ummah.) Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri said that a man came to him and asked him for advice, and Abu Sa`id said that he asked the same of Allah's Messenger . Abu Sa`id said, "So, I advise you to adhere by the Taqwa of Allah, because it is the chief of all matters. Fulfill the obligation of Jihad, because it is the Rahbaniyyah of Islam. Take care of remembering Allah and reciting the Qur'an, because it is your closeness (or status) in the heavens and your good fame on earth.'' Only Imam Ahmad collected this Hadith.

Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Then We caused Our messengers) one after the other (to follow in their footsteps) to follow Noah and Abraham from their respective offspring; (and We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow) these Messenger, i.e. messengers other than the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) (and gave him the Gospel, and placed compassion and mercy) towards each other (in the hearts of those who followed him) i.e. who followed the religion of Jesus. (But monasticism they invented) they built monasteries and cloisters to escape the sedition of Paul, the Jew. (We ordained it not for them) We did not enjoin monasticism upon them. (Only seeking Allah's pleasure) they did not invent it except to seek Allah's good pleasure, (and) had We enjoined it upon them (they observed it not with right observance) they would not have given it its right due. (So We give those of them who believe) among the monks (their reward) double for their faith and worship; these are the ones who did not contravene against the religion of Jesus. 24 among these were in the Yemen and when they heard of the Prophet (pbuh) they believed in him and joined his religion, (but many of them) of the monks (are evil-livers) disbelievers, these are the ones who went against the religion of Jesus.

D. PEMBAHASAN
Lagi-lagi multi tafsir.
Definisi Rahbaniyyah: Hidup membiara dan tidak menikah (yang dilakukan oleh umat Nasrani di Arab). Cukup menarik juga bahwa di penghujung penafsirannya, Ibn Kathir mengutip Hadist yang menyebut bahwa Muhammad mengatakan, "Setiap Umat memiliki (cara) rahbaniyyah nya masing-masing dan jihad adalah rahbaniyyah nya umat Islam". Di sini rahbaniyyah memiliki arti cara mendekatkan diri untuk mencari ridho Allah.

Jika merujuk pada hadist yang dikutip Ibn Kathir bahwa Muhammad memandang positif tentang Rahbaniyyah dgn berkata seperti tadi, maka kita bisa memilih tafsiran mana yang lebih tepat yang dilakukan ibn Kathir sewaktu memberikan makna QS 57:27.

Tidak memungkiri fakta bahwa Ibn Kathir memberikan dua tafsiran, tetapi sejak menutup dengan hadist tentang Rahbaniyyah secara positif maka kita bisa simpulkan demikian terhadap QS 57:27

Dan mereka mengada-adakan rahbaniyah
maa katabnaahaa ‘alayhim ILLAA IBTIGHAA-A RIDHWAANI ALLAAHI
... padahal kami tidak mewajibkannya kepada mereka tetapi untuk mencari keridhaan Allah,

Ibnu Kathir menuliskan, "... that they wanted to please Allah by inventing monasticism. Sa`id bin Jubayr and Qatadah said this."

Rahbaniyyah memang tidak diwajibkan, tetapi juga tidak dinyatakan bahwa rahbaniyyah dilarang. (Baca lagi hadist muhammad yang menyebut secara positif tentang rahbaniyyah). Di sisi lain (sila koreksinya jika ini salah), tidakkah kata Arab 'illaa' seharusnya diterjemahkan dengan "kecuali". Silakan Anda cek penggunaan kata 'illa' di ayat lain, artinya 'kecuali'. Sehingga seharusnya kalimat nya berbunyi:

maa katabnaahaa ‘alayhim ILLAA IBTIGHAA-A RIDHWAANI ALLAAHI
... padahal kami tidak mewajibkannya kepada mereka KECUALI untuk mencari keridhaan Allah,

So, kita bisa mengetahui bahwa Nasrani melakukan rahbaniyyah tujuannya adalah untuk "IBTIGHAA-A RIDHWAANI ALLAAHI".

Hanya, persoalan yang terjadi saat ayat itu turun adalah ... famaa ra’awhaa haqqa ri’aayatihaa - lalu mereka tidak memeliharanya dengan pemeliharaan yang semestinya. Ibn Kathir menulis, " ... they did not abide by what they ordered themselves to do. This Ayah criticizes them in two ways: first, they invented in things in their religion, things which Allah did not legislate for them. The second is that they did not fulfill the requirements of what they themselves invented and which they claimed was a means of drawing near to Allah, the Exalted and Most Honored." Jadi persoalan utama nya adalah mereka memiliki tujuan yang baik ketika melakukan rahbaniyyah, tetapi mereka tidak melakukan rahbaniyyah itu dengan sepenuh hati.

Tugas terakhir tinggal mengindentifikasi kalimat:
faaataynaa alladziina aamanuu minhum ajrahum wakatsiirun minhum faasiquuna
Maka Kami berikan kepada orang-orang yang beriman di antara mereka pahalanya dan banyak di antara mereka orang-orang fasik.

Siapa yang dimaksud dengan "mereka yang beriman di antara mereka"? Menurut Theos, sejalan dengan posisi positif maka yang dimaksud adalah "mereka yang melakukan rahbaniyyah dengan cara yang benar dan dengan sepenuh hati".

Islam Sufi juga memiliki pemahaman hidup tidak menikah (Zuhud) sebagai pembuktian diri untuk hanya kasih kepada Allah Swt seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh "Perempuan Suci dari Basrah". Beberapa tulisan dari Rabi'ah Adawiyyah:
Kujadikan Kau teman berbincang dalam kalbu. Tubuhku pun biar berbincang dengan temanku. Dengan temanku tubuhku bercengkrama selalu. Dalam kalbu terpancar selalu kekasih cintaku. ... Wahai Tuhanku, tenggelamkan aku dalam mencintai-Mu, sehingga tidak ada yang menyibukkan aku selain diri-Mu. Ya Tuhan, bintang di langit telah telah gemerlapan, mata telah bertiduran, pintu-pintu istana telah dikunci dan tiap pecinta telah menyendiri dengan yang dicintai, dan inilah aku berada di hadirat-Mu.

E. KESIMPULAN
Dengan uraian di atas, maka bisa kita simpulkan beberapa hal:
◾ Bahwa rahbaniyyah hukumnya tidak wajib. Boleh dilakukan, juga boleh tidak dilakukan. Yang melakukan rahbaniyyah wajib melakukan nya dengan sepenuh hati untuk mencari ridha Al ilah.
◾ QS 57:27 menghardik orang yang melakukan rahbaniyyah tetapi tidak menjalaninya sebagaimana mestinya.
◾ Pelaku rahbaniyyah sendiri jika dilakukan dengan benar akan diberikan pahala: "faaataynaa alladziina aamanuu minhum ajrahum wakatsiirun minhum faasiquuna"

Ada orang yang tidak dapat kawin karena ia memang lahir demikian dari rahim ibunya, dan ada orang yang dijadikan demikian oleh orang lain, dan ada orang yang membuat dirinya demikian karena kemauannya sendiri oleh karena Kerajaan Sorga. Siapa yang dapat mengerti hendaklah ia mengerti."
